FAQs
Want to know more about Rest to Reset...
What is Rest to Reset?
Rest to Reset is a specialist support service for young people with mental health difficulties. Our trained staff use specialist skills to support your child. This may be while they wait for specialist treatment, or during the transition from inpatient admission back to life at home in the community.
Who are your staff?
All of our support workers are experienced mental health professionals with backgrounds in CAMHS, eating disorders, and children’s services. They are enhanced DBS checked, reference-verified, and trained in safeguarding and risk management.
Who can use the service?
We support young people aged 8–21 with mental health challenges (such as anxiety, eating disorders, low-risk self-harm, or school avoidance). Our staff are experienced in working with young people who are neurodivergent. Unfortunately, we can’t support young people who are actively suicidal, in medical crisis, or need overnight care.
How do you make sure my young person is safe ?
We carry out a full clinical needs assessment against our inclusion and exclusion criteria, followed by a home visit, we will then create a personalised care plan with clear boundaries. Staff are monitored through a lone working safety process and follow strict safeguarding policies.
What will the sitter do during the session?
Specialist support workers provide safe companionship and tailored support. This could include gentle distraction (games, conversation, creative activities), emotional support and grounding techniques when your young person feels overwhelmed, planning routines or daily activities, building independence and confidence, or simply providing consistency of care.
How do you match the sitter to the young person?
We take into account your young person's personality, needs, and preferences, as well as their specialist support worker's skills and experience. Families receive their support worker's profile before the first session so their young person can get to know a little bit about them before meeting!
What if my young person doesn't get on with the sitter?
We’ll work with you to resolve concerns and, if needed, rematch your young person with another specialist support worker who may be a better fit.
What if I need to cancel my session?
Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance are refunded in full. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur our full service fee in line with our cancellation policy.
What happens if there is an emergency during a sit?
Our staff follow strict safety protocols. If there’s immediate risk, they will call 999 first, then contact the parent/carer and our on call manager. Any concerns are documented and followed up.
How do you handle confidentiality?
We follow UK GDPR and safeguarding rules. Information is only shared with your consent or if needed to protect your young person's safety.
How do I get started?
Simply contact us via our website. We’ll arrange an initial call, followed by a home visit, care plan, and specialist support worker match.
Can I get funding for this service?
In the first instance we would suggest that you contact professionals from social care or mental health that are already involved with your young person. Lots of parents are entitled to PA finding from social care. Other parents have contacted local mental health charities. We would be happy to support you through this process.
